The recording sessions for the song started on June 14, 1976, and the song was given the moniker “Rio de Janeiro” at that time. When it was all said and done, the song was rechristened “When I Kissed the Teacher.” The lyrics of this song recount the narrative of a student who has a crush on her instructor and eventually cannot control herself and kisses him.

The story is told in a lighthearted manner. The lines are spoken to an upbeat musical accompaniment. This was one of Benny Andersson’s favorite ABBA songs, and he frequently sang it.
